Overview

Non Combustible. Built to Last.

EQUITONE® is a fiber cement rainscreen panel designed for use in open-joint, ventilated facade systems. Its through-colored composition means the color runs through the full depth of the panel — no surface coating to chip, fade, or peel.

With a huge selection of textures, finishes, and colors, EQUITONE® gives architects the freedom to create distinctive facades that perform reliably for decades. Every panel is fire-rated and engineered for the most demanding building envelope applications.

EQUITONE® is classified as noncombustible under ASTM E136, with a flame spread index and smoke development index of 0 per ASTM E84. Critically for New York City projects, EQUITONE® has received an exemption from the NYC DOB and FDNY — allowing its use in assemblies without triggering NFPA 285 requirements and without the need for additional fire blocking.

EQUITONE Systems

EQUITONE is designed to be installed as a drained and ventilated rainscreen facade. A cavity behind the cladding panels lets air circulate, helping reduce sound transmission and prevent mold and mildew while protecting the building envelope. The system adapts to virtually any building type through two fixing methods.

Face-Fixed System

The most direct and economical installation. EQUITONE panels are mechanically fixed with visible fasteners over metal subframing for commercial work, or face-fixed directly to wood substrates on wood-frame projects — with color-matched fasteners for a clean, considered look. Suitable for both IBC Type I–IV and Type V construction.

Concealed Fixed System

A fully concealed attachment with no visible fasteners. EQUITONE panels are installed over metal subframing using concealed fixings, creating a clean, uninterrupted panel face — ideal for high-rise and commercial applications that require noncombustible (IBC Type I–IV) compliance.

System suitability: Type I–IV (commercial/noncombustible) panels install over metal subframing in face-fixed or concealed methods; Type V (wood-frame) panels face-fix to wood substrates, with options supporting both continuous-insulation and non-CI assemblies.

Sustainability

Built to Last. Certified to Prove It.

Every EQUITONE® panel carries an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) — third-party verified life-cycle impact data that directly supports LEED documentation. All panels are Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze — the only fiber cement facade material to hold this distinction, recognized across LEED®, BREEAM®, and DGNB rating systems.

EQUITONE® is classified as noncombustible under ASTM E136 and has received an exemption from the NYC DOB and FDNY, allowing use in assemblies without triggering NFPA 285 requirements and without additional fire blocking. For NYC projects, this is a significant code advantage.

Panels are built for a 50+ year service life, require minimal maintenance, and can be individually removed or replaced. All manufacturing off-cuts are recycled — zero production waste to landfill.
